Bear Tracks in the Classroom

PreK
Our littlest learners are continuing to grow everyday!  They are enjoying their playful learning stations which rotate often.  Students are  working on their fine motor skills through art projects.  They are working on recognizing letters and identifying their sounds.  They're making so much progress everyday!

Kindergarten
Our kindergarten bears are hard at work building their early reading and math foundations. Students are moving through the alphabet, practicing letter sounds, blending CVC words, and tapping out sounds to become confident early readers. In math, they are exploring both 2D and 3D shapes and learning how to compare objects using measurement language like taller than and shorter than. Big learning is happening in these little classrooms!

1st Grade
First graders are stretching their math brains with addition and subtraction involving multiple addends and using word problems to strengthen their problem-solving skills. They are building number fluency by counting to 120 forward, backward, and by tens. In literacy, students are sharpening their phonics skills, growing as independent readers, and using reciprocal teaching strategies to deepen their reading comprehension through thoughtful discussion.

2nd Grade
Second grade students have been diving into rich learning across subjects. In social studies and reading, they are exploring different cultures and learning about immigration. In science, they are investigating the states of matter through hands-on exploration. Math lessons have turned toward geometry as students begin learning about shapes and spatial thinking. They recently showcased their learning at a school assembly, teaching everyone how to say “hello” in different languages and performing a beautiful scarf dance for the school community.

⭐ Living the Brayton B’s (PBIS in Action)

Across our classrooms, students continue to show what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe each and every day. Through our PBIS work, these expectations aren’t just posters on the wall, they are how we “do school.” They are how our students learn, play, and interact with one another.

We see students being respectful when they listen to classmates’ ideas, use kind words, and include others during group work and at recess. We see responsibility when students take care of classroom materials, stay focused on their learning, and make good choices even when no one is watching. And we see safety when students use their bodies appropriately in the classroom and hallways, follow routines, and look out for one another.

Teachers regularly recognize students for demonstrating the Brayton B’s, and these positive choices are celebrated throughout the school community. We are proud of the way our Brayton Bears continue to model these expectations and contribute to a positive, supportive learning environment for all.
